WHAt We’re Thankful For

November marks the beginning of the holiday season offering a time to reflect on what we’re thankful for and how to give back to our communities. In the spirit of giving this season, and as we have done the past several years, WHA partnered with Canning Hunger to aid their Box of Love Thanksgiving Food Project. At the beginning of the month, WHA welcomed Dr. Norman Whan into our Orange County office to hear about Canning Hunger’s mission and how we could aid their donation efforts. Canning Hunger was founded in 1992 by Dr. Norman Whan, and the Box of Love campaign is aimed to supply Orange County families in need with a traditional holiday meal.

Dr. Whan detailed his accomplishments and how Canning Hunger came to be. Upon the launch of our campaign, Canning Hunger also informed us that an anonymous friend of their organization offered to match all WHA donations up to $10,000! Naturally, our team felt more inspired and motivated than ever to aid their efforts in the fight against hunger.

For two weeks, our WHA team gathered monetary donations and filled 20 cardboard boxes with supplies to provide families with a well-rounded holiday meal. We look forward to aiding Canning Hunger’s efforts each year and feel so fortunate that we are part of a campaign that serves over 50,000 local families annually.

Whilst our team participated in Canning Hunger’s donation efforts, we also hosted a Wall of Thanks where we shared what we are most thankful for this year. The wall was placed near the entrance of our Orange County office, so it was a heartwarming sight as we entered the building in the morning and exited at the end of the day. The wall grew throughout the month as the office contributed sticky notes stating their thoughts. Responses expressed gratitude for the creative team at WHA, a loving family to come home to at the end of the day, a supportive community, the collaboration of our wonderful clients, playful pets, the privilege to enjoy a delicious meal, and so many more. This activity served as a time of reflection on our intentions for this season, and a great reminder that WHA has a lot to be thankful for.
