An Exposé on WHA’s Culture

Company culture is a topic that is more important now than ever before. As people re-prioritize values post-pandemic, companies are under greater pressure to cultivate the type of culture that aligns with employee values. After graduating from college in 2019 and starting a position at WHA that fall, I have experienced WHA exceling in cultivating a positive culture by its welcoming environment, work-life balance, mentorship, involvement opportunities, and a generous supply of office snacks. Don’t just take my word for it; see what some of our employees say about our company in an officewide survey asking the simple question:

“What do you enjoy most about the culture at WHA?”

Welcoming Environment

What others say:

“The people!” (15 years)

“Innovative and good community” (7 months)

“Collaborating with different teams, going out to eat, and office party time!” (9 years)

“I really enjoy the people and the collaboration that is part of every project.” (10 years)

“The opportunity to grow and lead. It’s a faith-filled environment and you’re treated like a family. (6 years)

“Everyone has been so welcoming, and genuinely wants you to succeed and grow professionally and personally.” (2 months)

“I enjoy the camaraderie among the coworkers. It’s great to know that everyone will have your back when you need it. I hear they have really cool bike rides.” (4 years)

My two cents:

Whether brand new to the firm or well-established into the WHA family, the people are what make WHA what it is. What some of our long-term employees are saying is a testament to a positive work environment; while newer employees’ first impressions are further signs affirming this.

Work-Life Balance

What others say:

“My boss’s flexibility and understanding when it comes to work-life balance.” (1 year)

“Family-oriented environment. People truly care about you as a person in addition to your role in the firm.” (11 years)

“The family friendly environment. I have never felt like I have had to sacrifice being a good parent in order to be a good employee. WHA has always been flexible and supportive of a work-life balance.” (4 years)

My two cents:

An important factor for many professionals is a balance between work and leisure. The principals here understand life happens and family should always be a top priority.

Mentorship

What others say:

“That it is a teaching environment and that everyone is supportive of each other. I have gained great knowledge by being able to sit with various WHA team members and ask them questions.” (8 years)

“I appreciate the collaborative effort of our team through the design and CD phases to ensure delivery of an exceptional product to our clients.” (6 years)

“The expertise.” (8 months)

My two cents:

An especially important aspect for me is to continue to learn through the mentorship offered here. It is encouraging to work with an abundance of successful professionals that are eager to mentor any member of the team who is willing to learn.

Growth Opportunities/Involvement

What others say:

“Everybody is open and approachable! A lot of activities inside and outside the office too. May it be something educational or just leisure there’s always growth and it’s always fun.” (7 months)

“The family-like atmosphere, great mentorship for career growth, fun events hosted by Marketing, and opportunities to attend seminars.” (11 months)

“The involvement in events with the team” (4 years)

My final two cents:

I appreciate how there are numerous ways to get involved at WHA in addition to the day-to-day workflow. Whether it is through joining the blog team, participating in an R&D meeting, attending industry events, or joining our weekly beach bike ride, individuals can find something for themselves to connect.

My hope is that this gives a little insight into who we are at WHA. One inspiring aspect about the culture of a firm is that the people are impacted by it just as much as people influence it. At WHA, our culture is always evolving and improving.
