A Hole in One for WHA

Our four offices throughout the state have a tradition of celebrating the successes of each quarter with some team bonding. Typically, this tradition takes the form of a delicious lunch. This quarter, our Orange County team decided to take it one step further and turn the office into a miniature golf course.

Throughout the summer, the office has been participating in bi-weekly Summer Golf Nights where employees have had the opportunity to play 9 holes or to sharpen their golf skills at the driving range after a day’s work. Playing off this fun series, teams throughout the office were given a month to brainstorm and build the most tee-riffic golf course.

Each team was given golf balls, a bag of sand, four foam square blocks, a WHA-branded putting hole, a 10-foot strip of artificial grass, and a plastic tarp. From those simple supplies, the teams were to provide a putter and any additional items needed to build their desired hole that would be scored by the office on the following criteria: Difficulty, Creativity, Accessibility, and Theme. Our careers demand creative, memorable, and buildable solutions; and pairing this with a general office-wide interest in golf generated high expectations for the course. And oh, did we deliver.

Lunch time, then tee time. The office parted ways to play and judge eight holes spread throughout the office stationed at the participating pods. Holes 1-8 were as follows: Fall’s Escape, Legoland Minigolf Madness, Carnival, Waters Edge, Architectural Wonders, Mario Golf World Tour, WHAMAZON, and Team Under Construction. From a replica of an actual golf course with a live animal component, to a tour of the architectural wonders of the world to a step inside a beloved video game, there was a course for everyone to enjoy!

Everyone had a blast amidst the intense competition, the high stakes, and the variety of creative courses. At the end of the event, everyone submitted their scorecards and voted Mario Golf World Tour as the grand winner. It was so wonderful having the office come together to enjoy a meal and play a fun round of golf. Congratulations to all teams for executing such immersive experiences. We look forward to closing out 2022 on a high note as our teams continually work to reach their quarterly goals!
