The Professional Women in Building Council President’s Award Goes to…

WHA San Ramon’s Senior Planner, Mitu Walia, has been quite active in the public eye recently. On Friday, January 31, a handful of our San Ramon staff attended the BIA Bay Area’s “Salute to Excellence and Officer’s Installation Dinner.” At the event, Mitu was honored with the Professional Women in Building “President’s Award” for her excellence and dedication to the building industry. PWB’s President Terri Everhart says it best:

“As President of the Professional Women in Building, I have the pleasure of saluting a team member that has worked diligently and professionally for the better of our BIA during the past year…She has attended every meeting, program, and event. She spearheaded two successful Educational Outreach programs by dealing with consultants, representatives from Junior Achievement, bus drivers, and food for 45 high school students and teachers from 3 different schools. Her behind the scene dedication and commitment has been immeasurable. She continuously asks me, “what else can I do?” She started this year quiet and humble and unsure of where to go because she was new to Northern CA. Thanks to the welcoming fundamentals our council members exemplify, she had no choice but to allow her personality to go from cautious to a charismatic shine. I’m sure I am not alone to recognize that she is a true pleasure to be in the company of, thanks to her passion, charm, dedication and gorgeous smile. Today we celebrate and honor a true professional woman in the building industry, a coworker, a mother, and a friend.  The PWB President’s Award goes to Mitu Walia with William Hezmalhalch.”

WHA encourages employees to give back to our communities – Mitu has exemplified this beautifully. WHA is thrilled to celebrate Mitu’s hard work, dedication, and excellence within the building industry. Our San Ramon office will be proudly displaying the award until the 2015 recipient is recognized.

If you haven’t heard Mitu’s name because of her award, you may recognize her from the most recent edition of PWB’s national magazine, “Building Women.” Mitu was interviewed for an article entitled “PWB Makes a Difference Professionally and Personally.”
