The Danville Hotel Town Center Has Finally Reopened

Though the Danville Hotel has not operated as a hotel since the 1930s, it retained its name through many uses over the years, including a boardinghouse, a restaurant, a shopping plaza, and a Wild West attraction. This 125-year-old structure and corner-lot complex located in the middle of downtown Danville is anchored by the renovated hotel which will return to being a restaurant, with two apartments above. The historic McCauley House, also built in early 1890’s, is also being restored and renovated as part of the project. In addition to the restoration of the two historic buildings, the Danville Hotel Town Center also features two new buildings with mixed-use functions and parking.

WHA partnered with Castle Companies in the revamping of this historic site, which sat vacant and dilapidated for many years. The historic Danville Hotel and adjacent McCauley House have been a cherished part of the town’s history and downtown scene, so the renovation has drawn a lot of attention from the residents of Danville. WHA utilized the many talents within our firm in almost every step of this project including—planning, design, renderings, production, historic renovations, tenant improvements, color and materials, and branding.

The site’s two new buildings, each two-stories, will contain retail shops and restaurants on the ground floor with residential units above—16 luxury condos ranging in square footage from 919–1,432. Some retail shops have already moved in, while others are still waiting on final improvements before their grand openings, expected this spring. The residences have beautiful views of the Las Trampas Hills and the quaint historic railroad station across the street. Residents will enjoy proximity to local eateries and farmers’ markets, as well as the many local events and traditions which draw many to Danville’s small town charm.
