Neo Hometown Haven

There is no better feeling than when a project, designed by the company you work for, gets approved in your hometown. This is the case for the newest community under construction in Mission Viejo, Mission Foothills, designed by WHA for Shea Homes.

As a longtime resident and former planning and transportation commissioner, I can say with confidence that this is much-needed new housing in our city. With our ever-changing market, the incoming generation of homebuyers and households downsizing from traditional single-family detached houses, Mission Foothills provides the perfect abode. With its well-planned community gathering areas, spacious interiors, roof deck vistas, and a fresh exterior aesthetic, I cannot be prouder to see Mission Foothills in my hometown.

Two home types make up this community, attached townhomes (called Neo) and detached homes (called Haven). The architecture consists of three inspired styles (Tuscan, Spanish, and Farmhouse) that have been elevated to the modern lifestyles for those within. Key elements make an architectural style identifiable; creativity and a progressive spin move it into a contemporary aesthetic.

The Tuscan-inspired elevations incorporate authentic features such as tiled roofs, stone accents, rectangular forms, and window enhancements. Like traditional Tuscan homes, the materials and color palette is warm and earthy.

The Spanish-inspired homes have identifiable design features including traditional barrel tile roofs, archways, vents, and enhanced trim details.  The Spanish-inspired homes of Mission Foothills also reflect the authentic style with light, warm stucco hues.

The Farmhouse-inspired elevations feature steeper roof pitches, board and batten siding, shutters, and divided lite windows. Brighter colors are applied to enhance exterior walls and enliven the community scene. Flat concrete roof tiles and rafter tails add visual diversity and style authenticity.

The traditional details on these new homes define the base style, but the use of color, material choices, clean lines, and simple forms enhance the contemporary vibe.  Our talented WHA designers are always thinking about what is next, once again accomplishing a new look that energizes an established community.

With models open, phases are selling out, a testament to the city’s housing demand and the satisfied buyers. Mission Viejo is a wonderful place to live; it’s safe, convenient, amenity-rich, and all-around beautiful. For all household compositions, Mission Foothills provides long-awaited new options for those wanting to call this their hometown.
