It Was Touch and Go for a Minute…But We Survived!

WHA proudly supported the OC Marathon Sunday May 1st and raised over $50K for the Divine Poultry Farms, a Marketplace Ministries Worldwide (MMW) project in Mozambique Africa! We couldn’t have asked for anything better. As a firm WHA wanted to come together and contribute to a cause that helped children and families in need.

WHA staff members spent their time, energy and efforts literally running for a cause. As a partner with MMW, some showed their support by stretching their legs, increasing their cardio and running in a 5K, or a half or full marathon, while others woke up bright and early at 3:00 am that Sunday morning to show their support and volunteer.

Volunteers from WHA and others supporting MMW, were posted at Water Station Mile 4, where they hectically filled water and Gatorade cups in the morning darkness to prepare for the mayhem that would soon ensue. “Things became a little chaotic at one point, but who would have thought handing out water would be so stressful but also so rewarding at the same time. It was a fun day to volunteer with other staff members outside of the office,” said Rey Aldaco Associate, Senior Graphic Designer at WHA.

Through our partnership with MMW, WHA is working to improve the lives of children and specific communities in Mozambique. “We are amazed and grateful for such an outpour of support, here in the United States, especially here in Orange County and the great response to our OC Marathon fundraiser. It will definitely enable us to get more eggs to more kids,” said John-Wayne Kennedy, the National Director of Divine Poultry Farms. The money raised from the OC Marathon went directly to the organization and will be used to build a better future for the children in Mozambique.

The funds raised, exceeded the goal enabling more eggs to be distributed to the children and building a local water well that will benefit the local community. This money will give the children and families something they have not been accustomed to, hope.

We had an amazing turnout this year from staff members at WHA and other volunteers just wanting to give back.  We are so proud of everyone who contributed and are already looking forward to the impact we can make next year.
