Project Playhouse Pet Edition

WHA shared in the wonderful opportunity to participate in HomeAid Inland Empire’s Project Playhouse Pet Edition. Our entry interprets the doghouse in a contemporary context. Advancements in modern technology and their integration into architecture should not be only limited to humans – Canine kind should benefit from these applications as well.

The iBark resembles the iconic iPhone and matches its sleek, glossy look using a sandwiched system of vinyl, plexiglass, and plywood to provide a spacious interior for man’s best friend. iBark comes fully e-quipped with humorous, punny, dog-themed app designs surrounding the exterior, the majority of which come from the creative ingenuity of our friends at Motivational Systems Incorporated. However, some app locations were left empty and the ply beneath removed so as to add light to the dog’s homey interior.

The skilled hands of TWR Framing set the panels securely in place. The top panel mimics the iPhone’s unlocking motion by sliding open and cantilevering over the edge to allow owners access to the inside. Attached to the exterior is a curving piece of wrought iron that holds two bowls for food and water, recalling the image of earbuds.

The Project Playhouse Pet Edition is on public display this week presented by Crossings at Corona outside the Edwards Stadium 18 by the large fountain.  Visitors can bring their pets, walk along the Dog Daze red carpet and pet parade, observe the competition, and, for only $5, enter a raffle to win a doghouse.

Yes, you read correctly, you could own the one and only iBark while contributing to a good cause! Judging of the best doghouse will occur on Sunday, October 25 at 5:30, with the auction starting at 6:00.  The proceeds go to HomeAid IE and the great and charitable cause of combating homelessness.

Please join us this weekend, support HomeAid in fundraising to reach the milestone of 1,000 homeless shelter beds in the region.  While you’re there, put in a bid for iBark to buy your beloved pet its very own “mobile” home.
